New Design of Asthma Inhaler Shrinks to Credit Card Size

Asthma inhalers have generally had the same design for quite a while, and all things considered they're moderately lightweight and little, and can be slipped into a pocket. Still, they're very prominent and nobody likes to use them out in the open for an off the cuff puff. Also, carrying it around is difficult in the event that it is held for the uncommon incidental asthma assault instead of day by day use. That is the place this new ultra-thin inhaler model comes in.

People suffering from asthma may soon have a sleek alternative to traditional and bulky inhalers.
The Bloom Inhaler fits in the palm of your hand, and is around the size and shape of a Mastercard. Asthma pharmaceutical is conveyed through a tiny nozzle that flips into spot on a roundabout opening in the top portion of the gadget; patients put their mouths over the gap to direct a measurements of drug, pretty much as they would when utilizing a conventional inhaler's mouthpiece.

Any standard inhaler can be utilized to fill Bloom as mentioned in the website. The gadget holds six doses, each of from the push of a trigger, and can be refilled a boundless number of times. The level, steel inhaler fits effectively inside a wallet, and its trim outline permits users to convey and utilize the gadget tactfully, not at all like bulkier models that can be unbalanced to carry.

The inhaler measures 54mm across and 85mm long, and is 4.3mm thick — that’s the thickness of about 5 ordinary credit cards. A small meter is located at the bottom, while the inhaler itself is constructed from reinforced steel. The inhaler works with any HFA inhalers, and has been tested extensively. According to the website, the company anticipates getting FDA approval for the unit this upcoming November.

When it does launch (assuming it gets approval), the inhaler will cost $40 USD. The website currently lists Bloom’s per-orders as “coming soon,” though it doesn’t provide a time  frame or date (presumably it would start after approval is received).

New camera could read books without opening them

New camera could read books without opening them

"Camera That can Read a BOOK !!", isn't this sounds unreal ? No this is real. Yes its true now this new camera can read a book without opening it.

Sometimes we find some old books which are centuries ago delicate to read but we have to read them without damaging them.

So keeping this in mind some people from MIT University have invented a new camera that can read these books without even opening or touching them.

"I wanted to know how deeply you could read a closed book, because no one has ever tried that," researcher Barmark Heshmat said in a video published by the MIT Media Lab. A paper about the new camera was published in "Nature Communication" and notes that it uses terahertz radiation, which falls between the microwave and infrared spectrum's.

At the point when the radiation goes through the pages of a given book, it causes a pulse to bounce back towards the device at a specific frequency. Terahertz radiation responds differently when it goes up against various chemicals, so the camera utilizes a confounded calculation or algorithm to measure, interpret and make an interpretation of those frequencies to recognize the words.

The camera is so sensitive that it can also measure how long it takes the radiation to reach the various gaps between pages, thereby determining which content falls on which pages.

The research team included Barmak Heshmat, Ramesh Raskar, and Albert Redo Sanchez from MIT, and Justin Romberg and Alireza Aghasi from Georgia Tech. The camera's prototype can currently tell the difference between 20 pages and read the content on the first nine of those pages.

The researchers plan to refine the camera so that it can eventually read an entire book without ever flipping open the cover.

YouTube as a messaging app? Sure, why not!

YouTube as a messaging app? Sure, why not!

You’re talking with a friend, and the conversation turns to something that a YouTube video perfectly encapsulates, now YouTube is making a move to let you take those offline moments online directly, without copying and pasting links into emails, texts, apps, or other IMs. Instead, YouTube wants you to chat and share with friends right in YouTube.

YouTube announced this week that it’s testing a new feature with a subset of its mobile app user base that will allow them to easily share videos with family and friends. Users with the feature can chat about those videos in a new tab in the app, the company says. They can then spread the feature to their friends by inviting them into conversation threads. Friends can chat about the shared video right inside YouTube’s mobile app. They can also reply with another video.
YouTube is smart to try to capitalize on that behavior, in order to increase usage of its own app as well as the time its users spend engaged with its service on mobile. Its mobile usage has been steadily climbing over the years, and now sees average mobile viewing sessions of 40 minutes. It’s also bigger than any single U.S. cable TV network with the key demographic that includes those aged 18 to 49, the company has previously said.
The messenger feature is still in beta testing, and not all users have access to it at this time, YouTube notes. However, it is being trialed on both iOS and Android.Friends who receive a video in the chat-like interface can choose to respond by sending a video of their own, or they can just type out a response or use emoji.
This messenger feature pushes it to become even more of a social network than it is today, while also acknowledging that a lot of socializing today is done on our smartphones through messaging, instead of more public social media. Its a place where you can watch original series and movies, listen to music even when offline, watch e-sports, kids’ videos, and more.YouTube did not confirm when the messaging feature will reach its wider user base.

New material temporarily tightens skin

New material temporarily tightens skin

Massachusetts Institute of Technology: Scientists Develop Material to Temporarily Smooth Wrinkles.

“Second skin” polymer could also be used to protect dry skin and deliver drugs.

“It’s an invisible layer that can provide a barrier, provide cosmetic improvement, and potentially deliver a drug locally to the area that’s being treated. Those three things together could really make it ideal for use in humans,” Daniel Anderson says.

“It has to have the right optical properties, otherwise it won’t look good, and it has to have the right mechanical properties, otherwise it won’t have the right strength and it won’t perform correctly,” Robert Langer says.

Researchers at MIT, Massachusetts General Hospital, Living Proof, and Olivo Labs have built up another material that can briefly ensure and fix skin, and smooth wrinkles. With further improvement, it could likewise be utilized to convey medications to regard skin conditions, for example, skin inflammation and different sorts of dermatitis.

The material, a silicone-based polymer that could be connected on the skin as a flimsy, impalpable covering, emulates the mechanical and flexible properties of solid, young skin. In tests with human subjects, the analysts found that the material could reshape "eye sacks" under the lower eyelids furthermore improve skin hydration. This kind of "second skin" could likewise be adjusted to give durable bright security, the specialists say.

"It’s an invisible layer that can provide a barrier, provide cosmetic improvement, and potentially deliver a drug locally to the area that’s being treated. Those three things together could really make it ideal for use in humans," says Daniel Anderson, a  associate professor in MIT's Department of Chemical Engineering and an individual from MIT's Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research and Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES).

Anderson is one of the creators of a paper portraying the polymer in the May 9 online issue of Nature Materials. Robert Langer, the David H. Koch Institute Professor at MIT and an individual from the Koch Institute, is the paper's senior creator, and the paper's lead creator is Betty Yu SM '98, ScD '02, previous VP at Living Proof. Langer and Anderson are prime supporters of Living Proof and Olivo Labs, and Yu earned her lord's and doctorate at MIT.

Test your lung function over a call

Test your lung function over a call

Researchers, including those of Indian-origin, have built up another health detecting tool that can precisely quantify lung capacity over a straightforward call made using any phone.

Many people who have asthma, cystic fibrosis or other chronic lung diseases have no real way to quantify how well their lungs are working. "With SpiroCall, you can call a 1-800 number, blow into the telephone and utilize the phone network to test your lung capacity," said Shwetak Patel of University of Washington.

SpiroCall transmits the gathered sound utilizing a standard telephone station - instead of a sound document that is exchanged by a cell phone application over the Internet. The group joined different relapse calculations to give dependable lung capacity gauges notwithstanding corrupted sound quality.

The group additionally built up a 3D printed whistle that can be utilized as a part of conjunction with SpiroCall that progressions pitch when the patient breathes out.
Why Hard Disks & Pen Drives Have Less Space ?

Why Hard Disks & Pen Drives Have Less Space ?

Here's why Hard Disks and Pen Drives Have Less Space Than The Promised Space.

Pen drives, hard disks go under the class of USB flash drive. It is an information stockpiling gadget with an incorporated USB interface which consists flash memory. At present, pen drives and external hard disks have been part just like smartphones. But have you ever checked that the pen drives storage capacity is different to that of the promised space by the manufacturer?

Yes, the storage room contrasts without a doubt. For instance, let us take a 8 GB pen drive and when it is connected to your PC you can see that only 7.46 GB space is accessible.

Then where is the rest of 0.54 GB ? Scratching your head and cursing the manufacturer? Well, let me try to explain you .

A simple of math involved in this. Generally, every one of us knows that computers work using number 2 as the base. According to this the memory management will be :

1 KiloByte (KB) = 1024 Bytes
1 Mega Byte (MB) = 1024 Kilo Bytes (KB)
1 Giga Byte (GB) = 1024 Mega Bytes (MB)
8 GB = 1024 * 8 = 8192 MB

But pen drive and hard disks manufacturers consider it as base 10. i.e
1 KiloByte (KB) = 1000 Bytes
1 Mega Byte (MB) = 1000 Kilo Bytes (KB)
1 Giga Byte (GB) = 1000 Mega Bytes (MB)
8 GB = 1000 * 8 = 8000 MB ( approximately equal to 7.81 GB)

and the rest of the memory (approximately 0.35GB ) is reserved for data sector and system files for better performance.

As the device memory capacity increases, we lose more amount of space. The table below shows some significant figures.

Well the truth is that, manufacturers are actually not cheating anyone in this whole thing. In fact, they mention this on the box of hard disks and pen drives. Take a close look at your hard disk boxes.

This is how "REFRESH BUTTON" works !!!

This is how "REFRESH BUTTON" works !!!

Microsoft Windows or simply Windows is an operating system which is developed, designed and sold by Microsoft. It is a graphical operating system. It dominates the world’s personal computer market with over 90% of market share overtaking its rival Mac OS. There have been different versions of Windows like Windows 98, XP, Vista, 7, 8  and most recent one is Windows 10. But one of the common options in all these is “Refresh” option which appears when you right-click the mouse.

Have you ever wondered – what really happens when you click on refresh?

Some non-techie people might think that it will improve your system performance or it will make your system run faster but this is absolutely wrong. When you hit the refresh button the memory of your system is reloaded with the up to date information. In simple words refresh will redraw everything present on the screen pixel by pixel and displays the latest data. Refresh option is not meant for speeding up the performance. Then the question arises when does refresh is useful?

Refresh is useful in the following cases:

  • When your data is not up to date.
  • When the desktop or other folders don’t display the files you created, moved, copied or deleted.
  • When the realigned icons or files on the desktop or other folders don’t show up.
  • When files created by 3rd party applications don’t show in the folder.
  • When the name of a file is changed but it doesn’t show the new name.
  • When you change any appearance settings. etc

In fact, by clicking the refresh button the system will take few extra microseconds to display the latest data and if you press it continuously the system will slow down a bit in order to read and write the cycles it has to perform inside the hard disk.

Ninth Planet once again!!

Ninth Planet once again!!

Two astronomers at Caltech have found evidence that indicates the presence of a ninth planet in our solar system. If confirmed, it would transform the model of our solar system as we know it.

'Planet Nine", as researchers are calling it, has a mass of about 10 times that of Earth and 2 to 4 times the size of Earth’s diameter. It’s so large that it would be the fifth-largest planet in our solar system.

What makes this planet so unique? It has a highly elongated orbit that “faces” a different direction than every other planet in our solar system. The orbit itself is so long that it would take Planet Nine between 10,000 and 20,000 years to complete one trip around the sun! Mike Brown, is the famed “Pluto Killer” who provided evidence that led to the demotion of Pluto as a planet, pointed out that Planet Nine is roughly 5,000 times the mass of Pluto.

In 2014, astronomers Chad Trujillo and Scott Shepherd published a paper noting that over a dozen Kuiper Belt objects all had an odd feature in their orbit. It appeared that something with significant gravitational force was slightly “nudging” these objects throughout their trip around the sun.In that effort to explain these orbits, they suggested the possibility of a planet. They even suggested the possibility of a large number of undiscovered Kuiper Belt objects, but that didn’t match up with current evidence of the total mass of the Kuiper Belt.

They even suggested the possibility of a large number of undiscovered Kuiper Belt objects, but that didn’t match up with current evidence of the total mass of the Kuiper Belt.Brown and Batygin found that the orbits align just right to prevent any collisions. Over time, the astronomers were becoming increasingly convinced of the Planet Nine theory.

The next step to confirm Planet Nine’s existence is to image it directly.Depending on its location, it could be hidden in the images of previous sky surveys. If it’s not there, this will be a job for the world’s largest telescopes. After yesterday’s big announcement, the race is on to be the first to image the newest planet in our solar system!
